THE STATE SCHOOL BOARD.

On Wednesday next nominations will be received at the school building of the names of householders willing to serve on the school committee for the ensuing twelve months. It will be in the memory of our readers that the last election fell through because thorn was not a quorum of the ret..."-, committee nor a single householder present, and no business of any kind could, in consequence, be done. We hope that the remarks we made then, when writing on the apathy displayed on that occasion, wdl not have fallen without some good result following. Fathers of families will surely remember their responsibilities, and attend on this second oppotunity that is given them for retrieving their characters from the stigma of supine dulness and indifference that with some justice has been freely cast upon them. Let each householder not only attend himself, but induce his neighbours to accompany him to the meeting, and show that each one has some sort of interest in the education of his children, and in the appointment of those whose duty it will be to assist the masters towards that end. We call on the Borough Councillors to show a good example, and by their presence teach the people that they, as councillors, as well as private individuals, take a lively interest in the welfare of the people and their families.
