. » Thubsday. Feb. Bth. (Before his Worship the Mayor, and H. McNeil, Esq., J.P.) J. B. Roots v. T. Jones. Mr Hankins appeared for J. B. Roots. Jones was undefended and pleaded not guilty. He said he only received the summons yesterday and had no time to employ a solicitor, therefore he applied for an adjournment till Wednesday next. Bail was allowed in two sureties of £25, and himself in £50. On leaving Court Jones again threatened Mr Roots, and was at once brought before the Court, and the amount of his bail was increased to £300 in all. I his amount Jones was unable to find, and he therefore passed the night in •' durance vile." Yesterday afternoon Jones was forwarded to Wanganui Gaol, in charge of Constable Price.
