AN EXPLANATION.

TO THE EDITOB OF THX FEILDING STAB. Sib, — In your issue of the 13th yon say we had become bail for the man Nixon for £400. In this you are mistaken, as the Court only asked for two sureties of £100 each. We would be sorry to do anything to defeat the ends of justice, but as Nixon has been for many years a most faithful servant of ours, and as we have never before heard of a single thing against him, and as he has a wife and several young children, we could see no advantage to be gained by keeping him from earning a few pounds towards their support. Besides, it gives bim an opportunity of preparing his de* fence, and should it have been a false charge, which it may yet prove, we feel we have only done what was our duty to do. — We are, &c, Cobpb and Sow.
