A LOCAL INDUSTRY.

Tn another column will be found an advertisement with reference to the Makino steam sash and door factory, planing aad moulding mill, and turnery works. This industry has been established for now more than 12 months but bits hitherto been comparatively little Iknown beyoad its owa business connection, which we are assured } is gradually Increasing. It deserves, however, a much tuoro extensive patronage, which we sincerely hope will be the reward to the proprietors for the greater publicity they «re now giving to the business. Our Toaejul visit to the factory, aad inspection of its machinery, &c, convinced us of its •capability of producing almost any quantity of its various lines, while ihe samples of the work we saw, many of whivh are in stock, were, in our opinion, •quite equal to any, and indeed superior, to some that we have seen produced else* •where. The timber used for sashes, doors, and the various other articles is, for the most parC totara, all sound and well Reasoned, which f act, together with ihe good joinery, leaves the matter of •fihrinkage all but nil. We may mention that the prices are such as cannot but satisfy every purchaser. Mr Potts, the manager, whom we hare known for some lime, is a thorough handicraftsman, and personally superintends every department :and sample of the work. We commend this industry to builders and the public igraerally, feeling sure that their patroniage cannot fail tcgiire them everj reasonable satisfaction.
