J The inquest into the circumstances c under which Mr Thomas was killed at t the recent railway accident on the Haw- C thorn line, was concluded to-day. The t verdict of the jury is to the effect that o Lhe fatality was caused by culpable negligence on tbe part of tho stationmaster of C Hawthorn, and the guard, Hunt, who was 1 n charge of the special train by which f* leceased was a passenger, and both were I irrested on the charge of manslaughter. >ail being allowed, however, in each u :aso.
