LONDON TO NEW YORK IN 24 HOURS.

An aerial trip from London to New York in 24 hours ! Suck a feat, says the European Mail, can hardly be eaid to have been dreamt of before, and certainly never entered into our philosophy prior to the experiments recently made in Paris, where a new -aerostat or balloon has been tried with most remarkable results. The new aerostat is cigar-shaped. At either •end iaa ian affixed to a transversal shaft worked by a five-horse power •engine. The engine emits neither eparks n"r flame. Jt works the fans -between seven and eight hundred revoJutoins a minute, and has been found to impart an incredilde speed to the balloon, even when steered dead in the eye of die wind. The first experiments having prooveri successful, and shown tbat balloons could be made to move against utm* spherical currents, the •construction of the aerostat was improved up< n. The cigar was divided internally by means of a trans-verse-cloth I ulkhead or deck, leaving the upper part lor gas and the lower ior machine* y and passengers. But W this ha* again been improved upon, ana plans have just been completed fur the construction of a thin steel balloon, with air tight compartments ro be worked by both horiz >ntal anc vertical centrifugal fans. 'I his aeros tat is designed to carry 1000 passen gers, and to make ■he j uraey bet ween Paris or London and New Yorl in less tftan 24 hours. Ihe machinery has been designed, and will be con etriu-ted for the inventor of the bai I ion, Mr Edison. Mr Norbeck, th* well-known Rus-inn engineer, is con ducting ike experiments jn France,
