Tt is our painful du*y to record another oid calamity which has -befallen tbe un'ortunate Clarke family of Makino, viz., ' c ilia ease of Mr Clarice, senior, which o >I: place quite sudd.-uly at his residence >n Monday monvng last, shortly before 11 ii clock. In the afternoon a post tnuri i.i examination of the body was made by Dr Johnston, and an inquest was held \v-.terday, particulars of which ar.e giren helm-. "We have already had to.report a series of troubles which havo recently come upon this family in somewhat rapid ™* ■ueeession, not the least of which was 'he drowning of the eldest son in the Manawatu Hi ver some 4* or o weeks 'ago, and now f*.,r tlie husband and father to be taken away so unexpectedly must indeed be a sore affliction to the widow -and the two remaining sons, for all of whom we feel sure the greatest sympathy will be felt
