CORRESPONDENCE. ♦ SCHOOL PRIZES.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE FEfLDIXG STAR. Sik, — Arc there to be prizes given to the Feilding School children this year? Most of the other places in the district have already taken steps to raise a prize fund by way of some kind of entertainment. Feilding has done so hitherto, but this year nothing as yet seems to ha re been done. I fear the youngsters will miss our former townsman, $£? Nathan, who, by his persevering energy in. the matter of the prizes, might be called the " Children's Friend." Surely a concert, or something of the kind cau be got up, and thus the needful provided in such a way as for all to be amused and entertained, and no great strain made upon anybody's purse, while past experience proves that such an effort would be sure to meet with the large patronage which it deserves. Apart from the wellknown pleasure imparted to a child on receiving a reward, it ia policy on the part of the community to do all in its power to encourage the rising race in. attending school and sticking to their learning. — I am, &c, Pateefamilias.
