At a place in New Mexico called Las Vegas, a man, named Huttei, was walking in the street with his wife, wheu an Indian desperado, known as Navajo Frank, threw a lariat around Hutter's neck, put. spurs to his horse, and rode off at a rapid rate, dragging llie man over the rocky street for a hundred yards or more. The shock came so suddenly that flutter had no time to take in the situation, and the lariat gripped so tight around his neck that his face became black. About one hundred yards frem the spot where he was lassoed, a hj'slander pulled out a r revolver and shot at the Indian, who then drew a knife and cut the lariat near the j pummel of the saddle.
