MANCHESTE HIGHWAY BOARD
.*. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7. A meeting was held on Saturday last. Present — Messrs FergUsson, Bailey* M acfirthnr. (in the chair), Linton, Loudon ■, and Bartholomew. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A petition from the ratepayers of Hen-> derson's Hue, iji No 6 ward, was read, asking that the road be formed. Proposed by Mr Loudon, seconded by Mr Fergusson, That the Engineer be in* strneted to report on the probable cost ji^fe. repairs on Henderson's line. — Carried. . A petition was read from the ratepayers of \shurst, No 6 Ward, asking for road formation, and stating that they were willing to subscribe £27 towards the work. Consideration of this subject was left over until next meeting^ pending the Engineer's report. Proposed by Mr Bailey, and seconded by Mr Linton, tbat the Board agrees to supplement £100 with the subscription of the settlers on Nannested's road of £200, provided the Manawatu County Council subscribes £100, thus making £400 to be expended. Carried. A letter from Mr Holden, of Makino, was read, asking permission to erect a gate on the Junction road. Permission granted, provided it is erected according to terms of letter, and removable at pleasure of the Board. A petition from the settlers at Henderson's line was read, asking for some work t<i be done on that road. The Engineer was ordered to report at next meeting. Accounts amounting to £63 3s lOd was passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
