♦ ■ We make the following extracts from the report on the Public Trust Office, for Lhe year ended, June 30tb~ 1882:— The cash receipts' from all 1 sources were £7,1319 ; the disbursements were £65,076. An increase of _ £3,057 oyer the cash receipts of tlie year ISBO-81 took place. The total transactions amounted to £210,904— an increase of £37,015. The securities held on General Investment Account now amount to £98*428. Those held .on -Special; Investments Account, £21,780. The amount trau I'eried to the ConsolidHted Fund during tbe-tast year was £6,211. The interest allowed io estates administered/, by tpi_e_, ofipce, amounted to £2,777. The balance of interest transferred to Expenses Account, was £1,928. The total amount of interest received on General Investment Account amounted _o £4,705. From . a 'variety of cause's "the net" profits of the year have only amounted to £1,673, .The estates administered - numbered 217. Orders of administration granted by the Court to the Public Trustee numbered" 92. Probates and letters of administration'numbered 9. Money trusts' undertaken, 13. Owing to the rapidly developing business of the departmentj it has been foUnd absolutely necessary to increase the clerical staff of the office.
