LAND SALE AT PALMERSTON.

We are indebted to the Manawatu Daily Times for the following: —Mr James Linton held a most successful sale of land at his auction rooms on Wednesday. The bidding was good, and about £900 passed under the hammer. Lot 1, 164 acres near Makino, was passed in at 40s per acre. The sections alongside the Courthouse were also passed in, and have since been sold privately — Section 1060, Fitzherbert street, next Mr For ter's property, was sold in two lots at £60 each to Mr Perkins. The Park Road sections. sub-divisions of sections 1046 and 1044, all sold at remarkably good prices as follows: — Allotm nt 43, Mr G. Hawkins, £26 ; 44, Mr J Hankins, £26 ; 45, Mr Snelson, £26 ; 46, Mr Engels, £25; 47, Mr Engels, £28 10s ; 48 and 49, Mr D. Knight. £26 each ; 50, Mr Snelson, £25 ; 51, Mr Fer uson, £25 ; 52, Mr Pa merson, £56. Lot 10, in Linton street, allotment No. 37. was passed, as also was allotment 40 Mr D. Knight urchased allotment 41 for £26. The different house properties advertised were passed in. The 30 acres pposite Captain Mowlem's residence were passed in at £6 15s per acre, the reserve not having been reached. Mr Liddell's lease near the Bank of New Zealand was sold to Mr Macarthur for £30, a section at Feilding belonging to the same estate also bringing £23. A section on the Square next the Bank of New Zealand was put up, and withdrawn at £9 10s per foot. Nearly every lot of property (excepting the house properties) withdrawn at the auction have been sold since.
