FEILDING BOXING DAY SPORTS.
♦ ;3 The lime has now arrived for our -%\ Sports Committee to be appointed in f;j ord«jr that they may make preparation I for the annual sports to be held next _■% Boxing Day. We would suggest that \i the preliminary steps be taken with as litile delay as possible. The Manawatu ' Racing Club is already in the field, and | has arranged a most attractive pro- A gramme ; containing as it does remark- A ably liberal prizes., which are as follows : \\ — 1- Handicap Hurd!e Race. 60 soys ;2. ''Au Hack Hurdle Race, 10 soys ;3. Maideu : : { Plate, 40 soys; 4. Manawatu Racing ■ 'i| Club Handicap, 200 soys; 5. Ladies* ';< Purse, soys, with 15 soys added; 6. * | District Handicap, 60 soys ; 7. Hack R cc, 10 soys ; 8. Flying Handicap, 50 soys ;9. Consolation, 25 soys, making a A total of £460, all of which is open to all x comei- with the exception of the district V» race, which is open to the whole of the Manawatu County. This is very creditable indeed. But it should only serve to incite us of Feilding to make an effort to pronde for those who are not interested in horse-racing, and give the general public «»n exhibition of sports and amusements of all kinds, that will excel our past efforts to cater for the pleasure of the patrons of rural sports.
