CORRESPONDENCE.
TIE MTLITAin LAI MS COM- »; mission. / TO THIS EDITOR. Sin, — I could not help noticing P~>\it remarks about Mr E. McEeanaV mtiia. His case is like hundreds more in New Zoiiland, vrlio have, in the hour of need, fought for their country, and many of them died in defence of law and order. Others received the Victoria Cross. Because we did not put in our claims at a Pertain time, the Government say they will not grant tis the land we served fpr.. I and many others delayed sending in our claims, because we thought they wq.uld be safe-.; We never thought the Government ( would; refuse our claims. The commissioners were told to keep to ,&. certain policy — n cruel and unjust one. Cases have come before me of great hardship. The whole matter is one sufficient to make any man feel ashamed to belong to New Zealand when its Government permits such abuses to exist.— I am. &cij '.m: ■ Sydney Stidoiph. Moles worth- street, Wellington. [We have altered the wording of this latter in. several; instances, the language at times bejng unjustifiable. — Ed. F.S.]
