GREAT EXCITEMENT IN THIS HO VIE MARKETS. [by telegraph]. Albany, July 18. •London advices of June 16th, by the steamship Ravennah which arrived here to-day, state that the consignment of mutton ex ship Dunedin from New Zealand caused considerable excitement in the Home market. The quality of the meat was excellent, prime parts of carcases being sold by retail butchers atlOd per pound. Dunkdix, July 18. "The New Zealand and Australian Land Company furniih the following. The vessel arrived in London Docks on the 24th May, and on the 2nd June about half the cargo had been sold at an average of nearly 6_d per lb. The. sheep camo out of their bags as bright as new killed mutton, and were declared by the Smithfield salesmen to be simply perfection, and worth J)d per lb if not frozen. The lambs were greatly appreciated, fetching 7d to 7.U1 per lb. One sheep turned the scale at one hundred and eighty pounds, and the Londoners can scarcely be bi ought to believe that such weights could be obtained without artificial feeding. One hundred sheep were sent every night to Glasgow, and realised rather more than in London — about 6:} d for mutton, and S.Vd for lamb. The salesmen declare that there could not be any improvement in j the method of slaughtering and sending the cargo home, and that the greatest credit is due to those who superintend the operations here, and lo Captain Whit.son.
