MANCHESTER HIGHWAY BOARD.

Satubday, July 8. An adjourned meeting of the Board was held last Saturday, 'lhe following Wardens were present : — Messrs Macarthur (Chairman) Bailey, Bartholomew, and Linton. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Mr G. Furlong complaining of having to pay rates and not getting any road made to his property. The Chairman read the reply which showed that £15 18s had been collected for rates since 1879 from the whole of the properties on both sides of this road and £38 expended on it. A letter was received from John Aitken asking that the time for the completion of his contract on the Bunnythorpe road be extended until the fine weather set in. Proposad by Warden Bailey, seconded by Warden Bartholomew— That the time for the completion of John Aitken's contract be extended until the Engineer thinks the weather sufficiently fine for him to proceed with the work. — Carried. The Government Circular to Highway Boards and other local bodies was considered, and careful replies made to the various questions. Proposed by Warden Bartholomew, second d by Warden Bailey — That Warden Macarthur be Treasurer of the Manchester Highway Board. — Carried. Resolved — That this Board meet on the first Saturday in every month at 11.30 a.m. — Corned. Accounts were passed for payment amounting tc £104 8s 6d. The Board then adjourned.
