Anxious'iro doubt to'show the con tempt they hold for la wand order, and einboldentd by the snoeessfui manner in which they have evaded the police, they have moved a step hi advance, and have now turned their attention to the destruction oi property. It is only a fortnight-ago that some of these midnight ruihans covered the front of. the Guakuiax otliee with tilth. One of- the perpetrators was "spotted" by the police, but owing to-an unfortunate occurrence a fink in the chain of evidence required to ■ convict him was found to be missing and the scoundrel so far has escaped scot'free.
