SISTER ESTHER’S CONCERT.

The concert at Paorata last evening in aid of Sister Esther's, work among Ihe poor nf Auckland was well .attended. Hie seating accommodation being all Utilised. Tin: programme consisted of eighteen items, and was well carried out, all the performers receiving the appreciation of tlm audiance.

‘Tim concert was organised by Miss Fewell. of Paorata. who had the sympathy with the object at heart, and, assisted bv friends, her efforts were amply rewarded. Several items on Ibe original programme bad to be cancelled. but> were filled by Mrs S. Nixon (Pukeknlie) and Mr Cashmere (Auckland.). The laller artist made Ibe journey from Auckland in order lo give what assistance he could for so worthy an object.

Tin- amounl realised, including Hie sale of home-made confectionery during Hie evening, totalled £ll lbs or so, a sum which represents credit to the promoter, assistants, and district alike.

The following was the programme presented: Orchestral seelclion (conductor. Mr Barker) : solo. ‘’One Fleeting Hour’’ (wil.li ’cello obligato by Miss I. Fewell). Miss A. Hall: part song, scholars of Wesley College; solo, “The Blue. Dragoons,”’Mr A. Hall; solo, “Annie Laurie,” Miss I. Fewell: quartette, “Hail Smiling Moon.” Mrs Coufts, Miss Fewell, Messrs Fewell and Hall: recitation, Miss Blott : vocal duet “Arise o Sun” Miss A. and Mrs A. Hall: orchestral selection; Trumpeter,” Mr A. Hall: recitation, “Murphy shall not sing to-night,” Mr Whitehead: solo. “Morning,” Miss I. Fewell; quarlet.tr, “The Old Banjo,” Mrs Coutts, Aliss Fewell, Messrs Fewell and Hall; solo, “Sing Joyous Bird,” Miss A. Hall: duet, Mrs Coutts and Miss Hall; part song, “Good-night,” vocalists. At Urn conclusion of ibe programme a hearty vole of thanks to all who assisled in making Ibe evening such a great success was carried by acclamation..
