OTAHUHU.
The weather experienced at Otahuhu during the Christmas holidays left much to be desired. Saturday* December 23rd, was wet < and though Christmas Day, was fairly fine the weather during the rest of the weelj was for the part unpleasant. On, Friday, 29th December, there was an exceptionally heavy storm of hail and rain, together with lightning, lasting over an hour, which ‘ residents say was the heaviest storm experienced here for .years. New Year’s ’Day was also wet and though the weather shows signs ment it is still very unsettled, ihe rough weather has been responsible for a large amount of damage to fruit and other crops. The Borough electors’ list for the forthcoming “municipal elections is now in course of preparation, and it is expected that there will be a large increase in the number of electors this year. At the(, last Borough elections' there were only 1103 persons enrolled out of a population o± over 3000 and this number included absentee property owners. The smallness of the roll was accounted for by the fact that there were hardly any persons enrolled on a residential qualification. Members of this class of electors always appear to forget that it is necessary for them to make application before they can be enrolled.
