Constable Thomas Woifendale, mounted constable at Pukekohe for the last five years, has been transferred to the Mananui station,, near Taumarunui. (He leaves shortly to take over his new station.

Mr Rayftor White, B.Mus., organist Paul’s Church, Christchurch, is on a visit to this district, and will olTficiatn on Sunday evening next at the organ in St. James’ Church, Pukekohe.

Mr !H. ,V. Middlemiss, of the staff of the local branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, who has been transferred to Auckland, was entertained by his friends of the Golf, Tennis and Orphans’ Clubs in the Premier Hall recently,, prior to his departure to take up his new duties-. The function took the form of a jazz evening', and proved to be thoroughly enjoyable. During his residence in Pukekohe Mr Middlemiss has taken a* very keen interest in musical and social matters and has aiso performed useful work pertaining to welfare of sport generally, and his departure from the district will be a distinct loss. His efforts in the directions indicated were greatly appreciated, and his friends could noil allow him to quit Pdker kohe without showing in some small manner the mark of esteem in which he was held. There was a larpe attendance, which signified the popularity of the guest of the evening. Dancing was indulged in, music being supplied by Messrs K. Cannell, G. Littlejohn and L. Middlemiss. Mr E. Wilkinson discharged the duties of M.C. During an interval in the proceedings iDr Campbell-Smith, on behalf of the Tennis Club, presented Mr Middlemiss with a set of military hair brushes, while Mr T. Hankin, on behalf of the Golf Club, and friends of the Orphans’ Club, asked Mr Middlemiss to accept a gold mounted tobacco pouch, in recognition of his valuable services. Both eulogised the recipient’s work for the respective organisations. Mr Middlemiss suitably responded. Supper was partaken of in cabaret style and duly appreciated.
