IVAN MOTION SHIELD.
FOR ESSAY COMPETITION. BETWEEN COUNTRY SCHOOLS. WON BY WAIAU PA SCHOOL. The essay competition conducted by the Mauku Athletic Club, between the Mauku, Patumahoe, and Waiau Pa schools, for a shield donated by Mr Ivan A. Motion, of Pukekohe, was this year won by the Waiau Pa school. The subject was “A Well-spent Holiday.” Waiau Pa school was first with 340 points out of a possible 600; Mauku -and Patumahpe \yere : equal with 285 marks. .'V . ...... . ... , ;; 7, ....
The prizes for the pupil from each 'school gaining the highest marks • were awarded as follows .—Sybil •.Woods (Patumahoe), Standard 5, 90 ,;marks put of 100; Cuyler Torbet dWalMu Pa : )V’ 85 rriarksV* Mary ‘Rawlings (Mauku), Standard 6, 75 marks.
