OLD MAN’S END.
FOUND DEAD UNDER HEDGE. OUT OF EMPLOYMENT, The dead body of a man named Alfred James Weston, aged 60 years, was found at Pukekohe East on Sunday by a farmer named Mr Charles I^aueir. Deceased was discovered lying at the bottom of, a hedge in a paddock about a chain from! the Born bayPukekohe East main road. The body was in an advanced., state of decomposition and the features were unrecognisable A search of the pockets revealed ,a letter dated 3st August, ,1932; from Hjill, Chmrch secretary, Auckland Baptist Tabernacle, addressed “To whom it may concern.” The letter stated “that the bearer, A. J, Weston, was badly in need of work and that he was endeavouring- 10 keep straight and that a job would help him.” There was also a letter card from the Registrar of Electors, Auckland, dated 18th September, 1922,i and addressed to A. J, Weston, stating that his name had been entered on the electoral roll of Auckland East.
Ip is thought} probable that deceased had been dead -a week osr ten days. Marks of violence were not discernable. An inquest was held yesterday by the Coroner, Mr R. F. Webster, when evidence was given by Messrs Chas. Lauer and Fred. Eveding to the effect that deceased had been seen about a week previously enquiring for work. He was then in a weak State* A verdict that deceased died from exposure, while in a wqak State, was returned. DEATH OF INFANTS. An infant aged about two months died at Buckland recently from enteritis an.d gastritis, while another infant, aged 17 days, died at Bombay from pneumonia. Inquests were held. before the Coroner, Mr R. F. Webstar, and verdicts in accordance with the above complaints were returned.
