(To Die Editor). Sir, —Since silence may be interpreted to mean consent. I take the first opportunity of re-stating what I said in reply to the question pul by the Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce as to wlial certificates Mr Wy&tt holds. My clear-cut reply was that “I did not judge a man l>y his certificates but by his ability.” This statement was received with applause. Possibly the figures which were supplied and which have been complained of so mystified the hearers as to affect their memories, or perhaps we have more unscrupulous persons in the community than we thought we had. —I am, etc. JOHN HOUTLY.
