VALUER-GENERAL’S REPLY
H TO LOCAL OBJECTORS. ■ QUESTION OF REVALUATION. ■ At last night’s ratepayers" meeting ■ held in the Carnival Tea Rooms, the ■ secretary read a tlegram from fthe ■ 'Valuer-General re the request for a <»r the Borough. The ■ tele gran re r" “Re your wire to-day. ■ Letter posted you this afternoon H advising tha. . recent valuation of H the Byrougb Pukekohe will be re- ■ vised; where defective, and an amend- ■ edi roll made available for the rating ■ year 1923-4. F. W. Fianagan. ■ (Signed) Valuer-General.” ■ The above reply was briefly discus. B sedi. members being strongly of the B opinion that the reply was unsatisfl factory, inasmuch as the Associa- ■ tion’s request for a re-valuation was I not acceded to. They thought that. ■ anything other than a re-valuation I would be unsatisfactory. Already ■ some ratepayers who had objected I when the Assessment Court sat in I Pukekohe had! their valuations reI ; duced some £2O --to £25 per acre ■ whereas those who did not object did I' have an alteration in their valuaI melons. The more they tried to amend the valuations the more tangf led would the position be. In view i of the fact th&t a number of ratepayers did not object, it did not afi feet the position, or the request of the Association for a re-valuation. However the following resolution moved by Mr M. Cronin, seconded by Mr S J. Ryan, * was carried unanimously “That representations be r, made to the Valuation Department / that a re-valiuation of the whole of the Borough be made.” f ■ A copy of the resolution is to be i forwarded to the Prime Minister and the Valuer-General.
