The reason questions at the above meeting because, at a meeting of the Ch ber of Commerce of which I si member, it was agreed ‘that qi ikons from that body or any of should be forwarded to Mayor in writing beforehand to ( tho latter full opportunity of taining data in order to supply i wers in full and correctly, inst of taking him at a disadvantage expecting a reply at a moment’s tice to some question that coiaid < be answered by referring to d( ments, etc, I kept to that arran merit, Besides the meeting-Jas till 10.30 p.m as it was, prolong the agony ‘with further questi would only have irritated the Ma to a greater degree than was apj ent, and possibly have led to v peration (from some quarters. I haps “Windbag” was there for t purpose and is annoyed it did come off: lam sorry he had not moral courage to sign his name the letter published by you. 1 letter should have been sigi “Coward ” or “Itaiiono Vendett which means “stabber in the bac —I am etc , W G.
