ROADING MASTERS. last m€<eting of Franklin County Council a deputation from the Waiau .Pa district:, representing he! Waiau Pa progressive League* waited on the Council and solicited 1 the expenditure of a fair share of rates on some of the roads in the locality. The deputaion also asked the Council to divert part of Ithe original loan money from one road which was little or noit tused to a road which. would serve pracically the whole of the Waiau district. The deputy-ion urged that elttention be given to Jfhe latter [road which would be of great benefit to the district. The hill leading up to the Post Office was another that required metalling. The hill on Ad Sam’s road the grade being a heavy one HT Til became impassable in wet weather — the grij.de being, a heavy one was at limes difficult to negotiate. The road leading to Mr Hock's property also needed attention. The small stretch of road from McKenzie's corner on the Papakura road was in a very bad state, and wanted reforming. Cr. Cuff said the latter road was receiving consideration and would be attended to at an early date. Cr. Wilcox, who presided., said that as soon as the teams resumed work the matters referred to would receive attention. As regards the revision of loan money from one road to another, this- could not be done without the permission of the authorities and ratepayers. However, ttie Council woulud look into the matter to see what could he done. Cr. Cuff said he tried to give each district its fair share of rates. If Waiau Pa end had not* received its] share lie assured the deputation he would see that it did in the future. Ttie deputation thanked the Council and withdrew.
