OUTLOOK FOR CHEESE.
MR SINCLAIR’S GLOOMY' REPORff. A gloomy report on the prospects of cheese was given to a meeting of 140 suppliers of the Manawaru cheese factory last week. Mr A. J. Sinclair (assistant manager of the N.Z. Coop. Dairy Co. Ltd.) said the average price was 12.§0d, with ,95d as a pay_ ment of a deferred bonus. The outlook for cheese was very serious if prospects d?d not brighten. The estimated price for buter for the coming season was 155 s to 160 s. The company had made only 4900* of cheese as against 18,000 tons of butter. Cheese would get more attention from the management during the coming season. He could not predict with much* confidence but at present butter prospets were better than cheese. Cheese prices only warranted a payment of about Is Id b/ut he announced a definite (offer of per butter fat far milk iient to cheese factories for making casein, and suppliers would not be required to take any casein shares.
