PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
ORDINARY MEETING. The Papakura Town Board met on Monday, Mr E, D. McLennan presiding over Messrs D. Weir, P„ J. Parker S t Evans, T. D Campbell J. R. Wilson and 'the cferk (Mr A. L. Cooper). An apology for absence was received from Mr J. Beams. Blind Soldiers’ Appeal. In connection with jthe appeal for funds for blind soldiers it Was diecidfd 1 Jto invite Mr Cllutha McKenzie MP.) 'to Papakura, for the purpose of addressing- the burgesses on -the subject. Crossing at Southern Boundary. The Railway Department; wrote stating it was prepared to construct a crossing at the southern boundary of the Board’s district providing the local.-bodies concerned diverted the road so fc!s to allow the crossing Vo be plhcedj in such a position to give la, go c/d view of the line in both directions. The Depar.tmenur offer was accepted, and the clerk was in_ structed to convey the Board’s appreciation for the manner in which the Department had acceded to its request. Road Roller. The clerk Was instructed to write and ask the Manukau County Council for tjhe use of i,ts road roller, so that' the rental on Settlement Road can be rolled. Scoria. It was resolved 't>o urge upon the Railway Department to expedite the delivery of the Board's order for scoria which is urgently needed for repair works. Offer of Fire Reel. The Pukekolne Borough Council’s offer of the fire reel to /the Board at £2O was declined with thank’s. Blackberry. I>'B was reported that blackberries on olid Wairoa Road were a nuisance, and it was .decided to take the necessary sjleps to compel properly owners to clear their frontages. Road Repairs. (.The work of patching numerous roads is to be put in band forthwith.
