•On the mdtjjon of Mr Slim it, was decided To place on record the Board’s appreciation of the work done on Jellacoe Avenue by Mr A, Medland.

The clerk reported on his visit to Wellington during which occasion he attended to matters pertaining to the welfare* of the Board, and district and he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for whait he did.

The dlerk reported that Mr Chalmers, of Waiuku* the' district's representative on the Asuck.and Hospital Board, had visited Tuakau and had discussed with him the q/uesjtion of a motor ambulance for the district. He stated that it was expected the vehicle would cos» about £1,200. To raise It he necessary money it was suggested that; the Ideal bodies in this district, viz., Pukekohe Borough, Franklin County, Tua. kau, Waiuku and Mercer Town Boards contribute £4OO on a pro rat's basis according to the population and valde of the areas, the Government to subsidise this £4OO and the Hospital Board to find the balance, £4OO. It was suggested thalt Puke, kohe should be the centre and hereat the ambulance would be stationed

Members thought; the id>ea of a m,os:oh amb usance a good one, particularly in the case of P.ukekohe and Tuakau or (the Ridings of tjhe County abutting on to the boundary cf Pu. kekohe Borough, but they considered that from the point of view* of a patien(t, say at Mangatangi, Bombay and such places, the* prftienf would be removed quicker to the Hospital by a motor car in the (locality than having to wait, for the ambulance to proceed from Pukekohe ancl thence to Auckland. They contended that by (the time the .'ambulance had arrived say ait Mangatangh a car from this place leaving at the same time would be half way itto Auckland, whereas by the ambulance idem, the journey would not .have commenced. Places on the railway line did not really red,ire an ambulance because for a sick person it would: be easier riding in the train than over the holes at Papakura and Thkanini. As far as -stretcher cases were concern, ed they were few and far between as far as Tuakau was concerned. However the matter was deferred for the present'., as the Board did not it h ink the expense for the ambulance was warranted. lit was resolved to fence a dangerous place,- to wit. the stone wall on Harrisville Hill. It was reported -Or- at a pvooert v owner, • whose business compelled- him to carl over the HanisvMle Hill
