OTAHUHU.

The annua,! social and gathering of parishioners of Holy Trinity Church. Otahuhu was held in the Parish 'Hall on Friday last-, amongst those present being the Bishop of Auckland (Dr Averill). An enjoyable programme was rendered, the rcllowing being- the performers : Recitations. !t?ie Misses Searchfielfl; songs. Mys Ronald Smith and Miss Hunter ; piano. Mrs and Miss Andrew; Rarotongan songs and dances were also given by the boys from St. Stephens’ School. During Hie evening tthe following met. ion was proposed by the Vicar, the Rev. H. Mason':: “That in the opinion of this meetting of /the congregation of Holy Trinity Church. Otahuhu it is advisable wiith a view /to further efficiency and economy that a new Vicarage be erected on a section near the Parish Hall and Church. and Pan mu. re’s adhesion to the scheme being secured,', the necessary siteps be taken Ito old tain the consent of the Synod for the slate of the present vicarage and site.” The motion Wals seconded by Mr Snadclen and carried. The Bishop then advised as to the proper procedure to be followed.

After 'the conclusion of ithe Bishop’s remarks an appeal was made for donations to extinguish certain liabilities of the Parish —the result being thajt- the sum of £SO was subscribed in the room. Advantage was taken of the occasion to make a presentation to Hr Rowdley. in recognition of his many services in the Parish, Dr Rowley having been an active member of the congregation during the whole of his thirty years’ /residence in Otahuhu and having been Vicar’s warden for twentyfive ye(ars. The presentation was made by I the Bishop on behalf of the congregation.

A presentation was matte to Mrs C. Rowley on Wednesday last by the Women’s Guild, Girls’ Friendly Socieitw and Mother’s Union, in-re-cognition of her long association with these bodies.
