TUAKAU.

MUSICAL AND DRAMATIC CLUB’S CONCERT.

On Friday evening last the Tuakau Musical and Dramatic Club gave a concept in Revell’s Halt before a satisfactory house. Mr Dynes Fu 1 - ton acted as chairman. The musical portion of the programme* which wlas taken first, showed considerable improvement over 'the performance given some months ago. .fit that time the singing was unbalanced. Too many female voices 'rendered the male tenors and basses, uneffective. fTo-dav, 'mrder the condudtorship of MY Bear, one can hear the male voices in .full chorus, blending as they should, with the allt'o and soprano femiai'o voices. A feature which was lacking at this concert, however), was i)he fine orchestral music supplied at the earlier one referred Ifio. During the evening Mr Lowe, who possesses a pleasing basso rendered several songs, and a I rio consisting of Mrs Srpeefi, Miss Avery and Miss Leaman gave an excellent rendering. Miss McQueen gave two monologues. The second, was easily the most effective. A flute solo by Mr Friedlar.der was charmingly rendered, and was highly appreciated by those present. “NO FOLLOWERS ALLOWED.” The Club, for the second half of the programme produced 1 1comedy. “No Followers Allowed.” This was very well staged .’and lacttrjj. ah" most serious fault, being (t|he bad prompting. On one or two important occasions --really when the .dramatic success of the production depended upon lit— iqVie male lead forgot his lines and the prompter failed to pick him up quickly. Still the; comedy went off ireally welly and efvfer.v player is deserving of praise. The following is 'the cast of the piece:— Tlarranlt Bumpus, J.P. (Mr B, Chapman): Mrs Bumpus (Miss Stratum); PetjeL Jobbery. M.P (Mr B, Lee): Ma(n’.fia (daughter of Bumpus (Miss Avery): Charley Jones (her lover Mr E. Revel#); Dina (Miss E- Leaman) Sophia (Miss Deeblc): H'ennrtf. (M iss McQueen): Arabella Mj s Tregui'Gia): Cook (Miss McQueen); Betsy (Miss Deeblc): Mary (Mrs'Pegu rtha).
