MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING. The Manurewa Town Board met on Monday, 19th, when there were present Messrs Cox. Pegler, King, Gallagher,, Smith, and the clerk. Wafer Supply. Mr Slyfieiid offered to prepare an estimates of the cost of a water scheme for the district for £2l, on the understanding that if the work was proceeded with and his services obtained' this amount would be refunded. Sanitary Service., On the motion of Messrs King and Pegler, the Works Committee was instructed to draw up (terms and conditions for a weekly nigktsoil removal service, with power to inaugurate the service. Electric Lighting. On the motion o,f Messrs King and Snifth, the chairman ancl Mr Pegljer were appointed a committee to keep in touch With the operations of the Power Board. It was agreed l to hoilcl a special meeting for the purpose of passing a resolution making a special order to raise a loan to liquidate the Antecedent Liability Account. The Power Board wrote requesting the support of the Board, and also the support of the ratepayers at the forthcoming- poll to raise £600,000 for electrical purposes.-—lt was resolved that the Board, support the proposal and that the ratepayers be asked to do likewise. JeElicoe Road. The deeds being to hand for execution, it was resolved, on the motion of the chairman and Mr Smith, that they be duly signed and sealed. Footpath Great South Road. A petition was presented from the ratepayers on the Great South Road for a footpath on the western -Side from Coffin Avenue ; to the station. Moved by the chairman, seconded by Mr Pegler, that provision be made for tarring the footpath from Statoin to Halsey Road.

Messrs King and Smith moved as an amendment that the matter be be deferred uiytil the subsidy of £4OO was to h-ami The voting was: For the amendment. Messrs King, Smith and Gallagher ; against, the 1 chairman and Messrs Pegler and Cox. The amendment was lost on the casting vote of the chairman. Voting for the motion was as follows;: For: The chairman', Messrs Pegler and Cox; against, Messrs King, Smith and Gallagher. Carried on the castingvote' of the chairman'., It was resolved that Messrs Pegler and Ki'ng be a committee to arrange a suitable social!) reception, to Dr. Campbell-Jenkfns and Mrs Jenkins on their arrival in Manurewa. Carting Rubble. For carting rubble from the station to overhead bridge approaches, the following tenders were received : - S. G. Thompson 2 3 yaw 1 , A\. Phillips 2/9 yard., B. R. Bain bridge 2 3 yard. The tender of PJ. A. Bn'mbridge was accepted, provided the work is gone on with at once.
