RUGBY IN SCHOOLS.
COMPETITIONS COMMENCE SATURDAY. TRE DRAW. A meeting of those interested in the inauguration of a Rugby Union football competition in schools in the Franklin District was held in the Pukekohe School on Saturday morning, representatives being present from Pukekohe, Buckland, Mauku and Bombay Schools, also representatives of the Franklin and Pukekohe Rugby Sub. Unions. Mr J. Patterson, chairman of the Pukekohe School Committee, presided. The following schools nominated teams : Pukekohe, 2 seniors and 2 juniors. Buckland, 1 senior; Mauku 1 junior Bombay,. 1 junior ; Convent, 1 junior. Tuakau and Patumahoe are possibles. (These schools are to be communicated with, with a request that they take part in the competition. The weight limit of the respective* grades was fixed as follows : For schools grade 111 and under: Seniors 9 stone juniors 7st. For schools higher than grade III: Seniors Bst 7!bs ; juniors 7stl It was resolved to commence the competition on Saturday next 1 and the draw resulted as follows : Senior : Pukekohe B v. Tuakau, .at Tuakau. Buck Hand v. Pukekohe A, at Pukekohe. Juniors : Pukekohe A V. Bombay, at Bombay, Mauku v. Patumahoe, at Manka. Convent' v. Pukekohe B, at Pukekohe. It was decided o alfil ate*. with the Auckland Rugby Football Un?on. The entrance fee of each team was fixed at 7s 6tf. The secretary was instructed to write and (thank the Pukekohe Rugby Sub Union for its donation of a cup for the senior competition, also Mr Percy 11. Basley for his donation of a trophy for the junior competition.
