CONSTITUTION OF POWER BOARDS.
“UNDEMOCRATIC SYSTEM.” The undemocratic system of the constitution of Electric Power Boai’ds was the subject of a letter from the Timaru Borough Council, received by |the Franklin County Council at Wednesday’s meeting “That the Government be asked to abolish the present undemocratic system of constituting Electric Power Boards on the petition of one fourth of the-ratepayers, and + hat the Government be asked to provide that all proposals to foi'm Electric Power Boards shall be decided by a poll of the ratepayers in each proposed constituent district, as a poll affords a better opportunity of discussing the pros and cons of the proposal, and as a result ascertaining the wishes of the ratepayers.” The letter was merely received, no action being taken.
