BOMBAY.
THE BOMBAY “SPECIAL.” “QUITE UNDERSTOOD.” Of all the poets New Zealand’s had.. None can compare with Bracken, And to mutilate his masterpiece, Good taste is .surely lacking. I pray thee, Mr Editor, Grant me a little space, To keep a tender conscience clear, And do an act of grace. Lest some should think that I, Had Braken’s splendid poem disgraced, Know, that the “Special” is the one. Who shows such lack of taste. Your special correspondent, sir, still hides behind his log, Anonymous prefers to be, but Bombay folk agree, The sort of “stuff” the “special” writes, Disclosed his identity. We listen ''to his tiresome talk, and interest try to show, And we are very kind, to him, we know— His “weakness” for that sort of thing-, And you who read his screed, should understand it also, Then you won’t take any heed.
