It is astonishing the number of voluntary remarks of appreciation regaring the Times both as an .Advertising medium and a newspaper, that are being made. This is gratifying to the publishers and it also goes to show that the Times is rapiii-y becoming the recognised district organ. It circulates from Mangeve to Huntly and takes in all places ’'in between. Further, the Times has become a powerful influence throughout the whole district.
A meeting is to he held in the Borough Council Chambers, Otahuhu, on Monday next at 7.30 p.m. to consider the question of making an organised effort on behalf of the Protestant Qrphange campaign. So far though large numbers of residents have subscribed to the fund no specific Otahuliu contribution has been made. The Mayor will preside at the meeting.
The new. hall at Mauku is now nearly completed, and the date of the opening ceremony has been fixed for Wednesday, the 7t'h of June. His Excellency the Governor-'General, having kindly undertaken to attend the function'. The building is of ample size, and the 'internal decorations are tasteful and handsome. A (large attendance is expected on the opening day.
