JONES’ 'F/3EIV3ORIAL GUP.
At a special meeting of the committee of th® Sports’ Club on Wednesday evening, Messrs J. E. Eliott and P. .Sullen were tin attendance as delegates from a meeting of he Old .Boys of the school to offer suggestiones re the conditions under which they desired the competition to be held. After a lengthy discussion, the following pi-oposals were unanimously agreed to :
(a) That the Memorial. Cup be provided, by the Old Boys and never be won outright.
(b) That a. gold medal be award ed the winner.
(c) That a trophy be provided as a second prize.
(d) Thai this year the race fe run over three 1 distances —100, 220, and 440 yards—and be won on points, Ist, three, points ; 2nd, two points ; 3rd, one point. (e) That all financial and other arrangements in connection with the cup be left in the hands of thee committee appointed by the Old Boys, viS.,, Messrs P. Sullen, J. E. Elliot 1, 0. Andrew, A. Fahey, and E. Stewart (secretary and trasurer).
Mr Cole expressed his pleasure with the result of the meeting, and believed that with the fine spirit of sportsmanship that was "being inculcated amongst- the boys the competition would be a splendid memorial to a' worthy citizen.
