PATUMAHOE.
There is considerable dissatisfaction among suppliers in this district, not only owing to the small price beingpaid out for butter-fat and the delay in paying balance of long overdue bonus, but due to the impressions put abroad by the company of increased payments, when the next pay day arrived, which increase lias so far not eventuated. It would be much better for the company to have held out no false hopes, but to have informed the suppliers straight out that they would have to take 8 3 . rd per lb for several months. The same applies to promises or impressions put about re the early payment of the overdue bonus balance. The result of these unsatisfactory prices, and delayed payments and uncompleted promises is general discontent, and a feeling of unreliability in the company’s statements. Many suppliers are looking round for more profitable means of disposing of their supply than selling to the company at BUd per lb for second grade scl lb butter-fat.
News has just come to hand before posting the ferrgoing that f.o.b. Auckland warrant the payment of Is 5d per lb to suppliers, If this is so, it is a pity the company did not find the money to hold the five or six early shipments, which were sacrificed at about 10Nd per lb, to the loss of suppliers and the benefit of Tooley Street butter merchants and speculators. \ SOCIAL. A farwell social was tendered to Miss Walker in the Patumahoe Halllast week, and was attended by a crowded audience. Miss Walker having made many friends since takingup the position of accountant to P. Henry ancl Son. A presentation of a gold mounted fountain pen was made during the evening, and all present joined in wishing Miss Walker a good time in the future.
Suppliers around this district are dissatisfied with their treatment from the Dairy Company. They claim .that they were lead to believe that they would get an advance on the SKd paid during February. This has not materialised, and so they are looking round for some means of improving the situation. An Auckland firm has made an offer to take all their milk for the town supply at Is per gallon. The present Dairy Co. price works out at only 2d per gallon, so it will be seen that a very substantial increase has been offered. A further movement is on foot to establish a co-operative town supply, which, if successful, would mean a still further increase, and also cheaper milk for the people in Auckland.
