MANUREWA NEWS.

WORKERS’ HOMES. At last meeting of the Manurewa Town Board, the Works Committee reported that it had gone into the question of letting the workers’ homes. The committee recommended the weekly rent be £1 7s 6d. Each building, including the land, had cost £llsO. The rent would cover the interest, and sinking fund charges, and would also allow for a certain per centage of depreciation. The report was adopted, OVERDRAFT AND RATES.

The Town Clerk (Mr H. Kay) reported at last Manurwea Town Board meeting that the bank overdraft stood at about £560, while the outstanding rates amounted to £6OO. TOWN CLOCK. With a view of having the erection of the town clock expedited, the Manurewa Town Board at last meeting, decided to hand over the amount collected by voluntary subscriptions towards ithe clock to the Government with a request that a clock to the value of not less than £IOO be erected. VOTE OF THANKS. Mr C. H. Lupton, who had been an ardent worker in connection with the preliminaries of ithe formation of the Auckland' Electric Power Board, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the last meeting of the Manurewa Town Board for the the valuable work he had performed on behalf of the Town Board. MASSEY ROAD FOOTPATH. The work in conection with the Massey Road footpath is to be put in hand as soon as possible. SERVICES APPRECIATED. At last meeting of the Manurewa Town Board it was reported that Mr H. V. Burton, who had been a resident of Manurewa for many years, had left the district. Reference was made to the valuable work accomplished by Mr Burton during his residence at Manurewa, especially as a member of the Town Board and as secretary of the Show Societv. by the chairman, Mr T. J. Covin. G. H. Lupton, E. Sf. Pegler and M. D. King It was decided to send a letter of appreciation of services reno.deered to Mr lV[r Burton, same to he sign ed by members of the Board.
