PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
The: usual meeting of the Papakura Town Board was held on Monday, February 27th Present: Mr S. Evans (chairman), T. D. Campbell, JL R. Wilson, D. Weh\ J. Beams, P. J. Parker, and E. D. McLennan.
Mr P. Holt wrote asking the Board to put in an elbow on the water pipe line at his property in the Gorge. It was decided to make provision for a connection.
The chairman moved, seconded by Mr Beams, that application be made to the Prisons Department for 500 yards of 2 y» inch metal.
Report from Mr Pearson, Government Park Superintendent, re sowing of the Papakura Park : It was proposed by Mr McLennan, seconded by Mr Campbell, that the mixture suggested be by Mr Pearson be acquired.
Notice board at dam and water supply work.—Mr Beams moved, secodend by Mr Campbell, that a notice the public against swimming in the dam or tampering with anything connected therewith. It was decided to instruct the foreman to keep on a maximum gang until necessary works are completed, and also make provision for a pipe connection to the railway reserve. The matter of sowing of Park area was left in the hands of Messrs Weir, Wilson and Parker. Fencing Park area.—Mr Parker moved, seconded by Mr Campbell, that a permanent fence be erected on the north side of Queen Street, running from Green Street as far as the first sub-dividing fence of the park property] and that alternative tenders becaled, one, for the labour only, and the other for the complete erection of the fence, tenders to be returnable by March 13th.
The clerk was instructed to see that the application fcji’t subsidy on the South Road was in order. Re water works contiact, —Mr Stanley wrote claiming the sum of £6O for extra work on his contract.
It was moved by Mr McLennan, seconded by Mr Parker, that the deposit moeyn be returned to him, and his claim reeferred to the eengineer. Messrs Willis Bros, wrote offering to metal the roads through their property, Mr Campbell moved, seconded by Mr Parker, that ithe offer be accepted, and that a letter be sent thanking them. ' The foreman, Mt( Morrilean, and the engineer reported that satisfactory work waas going on in the town area, also with the water works’.
