BOROUGH COUNCIL AFFAIRS.
(To the Editor)
Sir, —I compliment you upon your leader in your issue of March 3rd, particularly upon your phrase “iconoclastic opinions are not wanted.” Ia this phrase you have hit the nail squarely)., The crop of correspondence appearing in your columns, re the Borough lighting and water services is neither helpful to the Borough Council or edifying. Conditions at the presen time are sufficienly difficult to deal with, and taunts at Mayor and engineers are nek serving any useful purpose. An opportuniy presents itself to those who may
think that they have special ability to deal w?th our civic problems. Let these gentlemen select a candidate toil LI the vacancy that has occurred in the Council, and I promise them ,if he is elected, to support him from the chair whenever he has anything practical to propose. By following such a course our critics may save their honour., If they fail in this I think ithe public will have; wearied of them. I am ,etic., JOHN ROUTLY. March 4th, 1922.
