A MOTOR AMBULANCE.
A movement is on foot to secure a motor ambulance for Franklin County. In these days of efficiency and promptness it is cause for wonder that Franklin has not secured a motor ambulance before This. At the present time a serious case has to be either lied back, until train time, or a local taxi secured to run it to the hospital. Neither of these methods is conducive to i*he comfort of the patient, and a motor ambulance would supply what is lackingspeed, plus comfort. It is proposed to station the ambulance at Pukekohe so that it can ran to Mercer, Tuakau or Waiuku upon the receipt of a telephone call. The cost of such a vehicle will be approximately £I2OO, and as the Government will grant! a £ for £ subsidy, it will be necessary for the County to raise £6O0 —which is, relatively,, a very small sum;. If each adult resident would contribute five shillings each towards the cost the motor ambu’ance could be an accomplished fact. An organisation to secure this amount will be formed and a .start made at an early date. We sincerely trust that Franklin will realise 'that to maintain its reputation for progressiveness, such a vehicle is a necessity and will rise to the occasion promptly, once the call is given..
