MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

(Before J.. E. Wilson, S.M.) A sitting of ,the S.M. Court was lield in Pukekohe on Thursday, before Mr J. E- Wilson, S.M. Alfred Otto Perkins was convicted and ordered to pay Court costs for failing to register firearm under the terms of the Act. DRILL DODGERS FINED. Frank James Neilson was charged ■with failure to attend drill. Lieut. Hatt stated that accused piayed the fool when he was on parade. Neilson pleaded guilty, and was fined £l f and costs 7s. • J. Drake was brought up on a similar charge, and pleaded not guilty, but his excuse prompted the Bench to remark that he was a dodger. Fined £1 and costs 7s. SMOKING IN HALL. Robert Smith, charged with smoking in a public hall, was convicted and ordered to pay costs 7s. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. Henry v. Patullo Bros., judgment for plaintiff for £2 Os 3d, and 15s costs; Farmers’ Union Trading Co. v.. L- Elder,' adjourned to next Court day; W. McMurtrie v. R. Clark, judgment by consent for £5 10s, and 24s costs. ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT. ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. A MERCER CASE. G. Hammerton, of Mercer", was chairged before J. E. Wilson, S.M., at Pukekohe, on Thursday, that on or about December 23rd, at Mercer, he did indecently assault Elma Dorothy Hammerton, his daughter, aged 15 years. Elma Hammerton gave evidence alleging acts of impropriety by accused over a period of three years, culminating, in the alleged! aqt on the night of Decemeber 23rd. A daugh,teS-in-law and a son-in-law, and a son nine years old of acusecd, gave evidence, as did Constable Horan, of Mercer. Mr Easley appeared for accused, and submitted there was no case to go to a jury. The Bench thought otherwise and committed accused to the next siting of the Supreme Court. Accused pleaded not guilty, and reserved his _ defence. Bail was fixed at £l5O, and not forthcoming as the Court y^adljjourned.
