REMANDED FOR TREATMENT.
James Healey was charged with being found in a state! of helpless drunkenness in Station Road, Pukekohe, on Sunday, February sth. The police asked that accused be remanded for medical treatment, and to appear at Auckland on Saturday next.. Constable Wolfendale stated that when arrested .Hedley had in his possession a bojttle methylated spirits. The bottle was nearly empty. Defendant said he had been suffering from bronchitis and had taken a drink or two. It did not take much to knock him over,. He usede /the methylated spirits to rub nis leg. He requested to be given a chance, as be bad work to go to. The police’s request was granted. NO APPEARANCE. Tumanako Maniapoto, alias Jimmy, Ha my, alias Tanureka Waikai, who did no,t appear to answer a charge of drunkenness, was convicted and fined 10s, and ordered to pay motor car hire from the racecourse, where be was arrested, and costs amounting to 10s.
