ALLEGED CATTLE STEALING

■ COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. At the Papakura Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, before Mr W. R. McKean, S.M., Henry Ward, farmer, of Clevedon, was charged that on March 21st, 1921, he stole three head oi* cattle, one owned by Mr Thomas Bui*rews, of Clevedon, and two owned by Messrs Hawthorn and Munfo. It was alleged by the evidence that three steers were driven from the Ness Valley to Whitford, where they were sold by accused. Accused, who was represented by Mr Dickson, reserve bis defence and was committed for trial ati the next sitting of the Supreme Court. Detective-Sergt. Hammond proseCU Accused was granted bail, himself in £2OO and in one surety of £2OO.
