A BOXING CLUB.
FORMED AT TUAKAU.
For some time past a large number of young men of Tuakau have been indulging in a number of fondly boi|ts, and the exhibitions given were at times exceptionally good. The little class was the means of unearthing some excellent talent, ine “boys” took a very keen interest m the evening’s enjoyment and_ advocated the formation of a Boxing Club. On Thursday last a meeting was convened, at which there were present .about forty enthusiasts. It was unanimously decided to form a club, and 'the following officers were elected President, Mr Dynes Fulton : vice-presidents, Messrs v\. Graham and G.. S. Lapwood; executive council, Messrs W. A. Smeed, W. J. Taylor, J. Hyland 1 S. Conelly, J. W. Lonergan, A. H. Roberts, and W« J. Deeble; secretary, Mr A. Drake. Thirty-seven declared for membership. . . It was decided to engage trainers. It is possible that in (the very near future boxing tourneys will be held. The step taken by the young , fellows of Tuakau in formnig a boxing club is one in the right directionSiich a club can do a vast amount of good in developing physically, the future of our manhood. It behoves sportsmen and the public generally to accord the movement solid support and make ijc a huge success.
