FRANKLIN BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.

GARDEN COMPETITIONS.

(Contributed).

Entries for the garden competitions close at Mr H, H. Pattle’s office on November 30th, at 5 pm!.., and the first inspection gardens will take place before Christmas. We want at least 72 entries at 2s 6d, to ->ay for the prizes, and although a good number of entries have been received, the response by thje public is not as great as we had anticipated, and should the number fall short of the required number of entries it will be necessary either to pay pro rata prizes or return the entrance fees. We naturally wish to avoid either of these alternatives, and i,t is to be hoped therefore that the public will freely enter their gardens for these competitions, arid so give the town a boosjt along in the right direction. V If you cannot come in send 2s 6d in stamps to Mr H. H. Pattle, and receipt will be acknowledged. We all recognise the good that, can be done by such a Society, and it is up to each individual jto give this a few moment’s thought and lend his assistance. The entrance fees are 2s 6d per family, and the rst inspection wnl take place before December 25th. It is to be. a surprise visit, so that the prizes will go to the steady workers.
