Relative to the £1 for £1 subsidy up to £IOO for the Pukekohe Drainage District, (the Chief Drainage Engineer of the Lands and purvey Department acknowledged receipt of the Council's letter works proposals amountinig to £289 ss. fie stated that he was not approving of plans and specifications at the present moment, as he had to ascertain if the subsidy was being kept alive on (this session’s Estimates. In any case authority could not issue until amount of subsidy was revoted. In connection with the same matter ►the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. WF Massey) said he wounld personally confer with the Minister of Lands on ,the subject and would reply as soon as he was in a position to do so. The letter was received at yesterday’s meeting of (the Franklin County Council.
