THE PAPAKURA BUSH.
WILL PROBABLY BE SAVED.
GOVERNMENT ACTION ANTICIPATED.
Our article in Friday’s issue upon* the desirability of .taking steps to preserve the picturesque piece of native bush on the Great South Road, near Papakura, appears to have attracted a great deal of commendatory notice, and to have elicited prettygeneral opinions that action ought to be taken to make It public' property. As the time before the sale of the sections was only a fortnight those interested in the matter were somewhat in a quandary as to how to sufficiently enlist the sympathies of the public in so short a period. However, a gentleman in this district, who has always taken a strong interest in the preservation of the native bush, took the opportunity of bringing the question before the Prime Minister on Sunday, with the result that there is every probability that a proclamation will be issued making it a public reserve.
