UNVEILING MEMORIAL.

DETAILS OF FUNCTION.

The War Memorial Committee met in the Boi'ough Council Chambers on Monday evening to make the final arrangements for the unveiling ceremony of Ithe Pukekohe War Memorial on Sunday afternoon next. His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. Routly) presided, and there was a large attendance of members. The Town Clerk reported that he had received word from the Prime Minister that he would arrive on Sunday afternoon from Auckland, and perform the ceremony as tfeauested. Lieut. Hatt, who has charge of the military arrangements, stated that the forces would muster at the Drill Hall and march to the memorial, headed by the Pukekohe Band. He had arranged for the playing of the “Last Post” and the firing of volleys, also for the accommodation of wounded returned men. Mr Perkins said that satisfactory arrangements had been made to supply the cadets, etc., with refreshments after 1 the ceremony, that is, for .those that come from a distance. Official visitors from other local bodies, e«t., will also be entertained to afternoon tea. Messrs Lawrie and 1 the DeputyMayor (Mr D. Hamilton) were appointed to receive and extend a welcome to visitors. WHAT THE PUBLIC SHOULD KNOW. Everyone in Pukekohe and surtounding districts should be present before 2 p.m. at the Memorial Gates, East Street, near the railway bridge.: Printed programmes of the order of service and the hymns to bo sung will be handled around. The singing will be led by the Pukekohe ®Band, and members of church choirs are asked to assist the singing as much as possible. The service will, of course, be of a sacred and reverent order throughout. The local police will control the traffic, and the public are asked to give them every assistance possible.
